Alderman Renee Smith of Chicago Heights First Ward recently visited Chicago Heights School District 170's Wilson School to donate food baskets to eight families of students.
Joining the alderman's efforts, the collective Wilson School family joined together to donate food baskets containing turkeys and sides to two of Wilson's families.
Additionally, Mr. Jhames Holley, an Interventionist at the school, donated additional turkey and food packages to Wilson families.
Alderman Smith was grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Wilson School for the event, saying, "I look forward to a long, meaningful relationship with such a wonderful group of people who have a similar heart of giving and serving families in need."
"I thank Ms. Bishop and The Wilson School Family for the opportunity to meet and be a blessing to the beautiful families for the holiday!"
"This was an awesome display of kindness," said Wilson School Principal Keyara Bishop, expanding on the alderman's words..
"The focus of these magnanimous gestures was on the reason (caring, sharing, and community) and not the season.
"Our families were very appreciative of the food gifts they received, especially at a time when they truly were needed," Bishop concluded.
